The youth movement mobilized a diverse panel Tuesday, December 24 in Douala, to discuss the important issues relating to voters registration. Simple voting is not the only factor in democracy. But an inclusive popular vote, in the absence of barriers and if it is legitimate. In any case, the president of the Patriotic Republican Alliance (Apar) Célestin Djamen explained during the debates. Meanwhile, the coordinator of the NGO Un monde avenir believes that Elections Cameroon, the body in charge of organizing elections in Cameroon, is not « materially available to carry out its work », due to numerous obstacles observed on the legislative, institutional and organizational plans identified during the electoral period in Cameroon. Also speaking on the importance of the popular vote, Dr. Louison Essomba, professor of public law at the University of Douala, shared with the audience that a two-round vote in Cameroon would generate more youth engagement on the matter. This is without taking into account the multiple actions carried out by the movement which wants to make an impact and announce the continuity of its innovative actions of mass registration on the electoral files in January 2025. Since its launch in July 2024, the Voter Cards concept has raised awareness among young people through its presence in a football championship in New-Bell, as well as during the last Ngondo 2024 fair held at Club Camtel Bepanda.Hope is looming in the horizon for a continuous stride in 2025,to encourage more youths to get themselves initiated into the electoral list and make their voices heard,when the roll call is launched.
