In what many have termed a yearly tradition in the Douala 3 subdivision where the youths are given the opportunity to showcase their grassroots projects thanks to CODAS CARITAS and her cream of partners,2024 was no exception with the call for the youths ,to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism.
It was a heavily attended exhibition at the esplanade of the non profit organization Codas caritas, with aspiring and already entrepreneurs met to exchange ideas on how they could better their products but above all, scout for potential partners to stay afloat business despite the economic challenges experience in the Drawing inspiration from from this year’s theme which centered around the important role youths could play in volunteering to help fight against climate change and construct durable cities.Speaker after speaker that mounted the rostrum from the Divisional delegate of environment and nature protection Lemyuy William, down to Ngoudi Pierre of AS Hope association, the mayor of Douala 3 Valentine Epoupa Bossambo and Mgr Bayemeg Dieudonne who sat in for the vision bearer His grace Samuel Kleda Archbishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Douala all echoed the need for today’s youths to endeavor to accept volunteerism in associations as their own little to contribute in national development and thus, associations should relax working conditions to attract volunteers .
Meanwhile, Catherine Tondje who is in charge of projects with Codas caritas, enlighten the population on what her institution have been able to achieve since the start of 2024 which includes but not limited to complaint receiver on illegal demolition in some parts of the city and the nonchalant attitude some local authorities still to accept collaborating with the institution.Donation of working tools to some community leaders in respect to the traditional clean up exercise.Mgr Dieudonne Bayemeg on his part says the Catholic church is very much attached to her vision because,it is there own to foster community development irrespective of religion and acting as the voice of the voiceless whenever the need arises.Mayor Valentine Epoupa Bossambo on his part fresh from Ebolowa where the Douala 3 council emerged 4th in the national clean city campaign on the occasion of World habitat day 2024, didn’t fail to thank Codas caritas for making it possible as a development partner.
It should be stated here that,the cities and roofs exhibition has as objective in promoting inclusive local development, within the city of Douala with the hope that,local authorities will learn to embrace the project as a developmental partner and not,an enemy.
