Finance minister Louis Paul Motaze on September 27 in Douala officially commissioned newly elected members of the national association of insurance companies to be assiduous in their mission to accompany the government fully satisfy the ever growing insurance need of Cameroonians.
It was at Krystal palace Akwa September 27,2023 as the venue of the colorful ceremony to usher the new executive members of ASAC to a new beginning . After close to 3hours behind closed doors with the executive members, finance boss then proceded to the official ceremony which was heavily attended by littoral governor Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha, wouri senior Divisional officer Benjamin Mboutou, littoral regional council head polycarp Banlog alongside other top security and administrative authorities of the littoral region as well as a cream of insurance stakeholders. Headed by Thierry Kepeden, vice president Richard Lowe and mme Antoni Aboui epse Mendoua have all been given a well carved out road map which is to ensure a healthy and transparent environment for consumers while promoting growth and competitiveness in the sector.
In his speech as president,Thierry Kepeden expressed his gratitude to the minister and to all those who voted for them with confidence to pilot the affairs of the association in the next 2 years,to get ready to collectively contribute for the realization of their aspirations. How well , they do their job shall be judged by those who voted for them into office.
According to minister Louis Paul Motaze in his opening remark, ASAC is a regulatory body which plays a pivotal role in guiding and supervising the activities of insurance companies in Cameroon.Thus, the constant economic change context globally do equally affect Cameroon . Hence, insurance companies should be ready to get adapted to the challenges and protect the interest of consumers.It should be stated here that, ASAC was created in 1979 by a presidential decree with a clear purpose to guide the insurance sector and can today boast of housing close 10 certified insurance companies in the country and are waxing very strong as a testimony of promoting transparency and integrity in the sector.
