It was in a relax atmosphere the double session which was dedicated in the evaluation of the current budget and orientation of the next financial year unfolded, with 42 councilors who answered present under the supervision of Wouri SDO, Sylyac Marie Mvogo Friday November 01,2024.
The municipal councilors noted with keen attention on the slow financial recovery rate of taxes due to the current economic challenges in the country which as at now stands at 37% compared to 48% this same period last year as a result of the non-payment of the general operating grant by the Douala city council.In his key note address,the mayor Valentine Epoupa Bossambo praised the councilors for their relentless efforts in ensuring the realization of meaningful developmental projects in the municipality.He goes further to urge the Douala city council to release her own quota of the operating as enshrined on law No.000011/A/MINDDEVEL of February 16,2021.
The Douala 3 council fresh from the national clean up campaign during the celebration of the 2024 edition of world habitat day in Ebolowa where they, clinched the 4th spot with a check of 40 million FCFA, the mayor announced the realization of some projects with the fund next year such as improving the public lighting system,the extension of water projects to some neighborhoods identified to be facing challenges, rehabilitation of certain health facilities as well as beefing up urban mobility in the municipality.The newly constructed council building is expected to host the 2025 first budget session, mayor Valentine Epoupa Bossambo concluded.
