The presbyterian church of Cameroon has no doubt in several months been under tension on who succeeds the Rt.Rev.Fonki Samuel Forba after November 18,2024. For the fear of a possible electoral fraud, truth house movement which constitute venerated presbyterians are crusading for a free, fair and transparent election.
Meeting with the press in Douala Thursday November 14, the cream of presbyterian Christians expressed their will through the voice of Victor Epie Ngome to have true leaders take back the driving seat of the church which has not been itself in the last 10 years and there is fear, the same music might continue playing if no one stands up today and stop it,to the glory of God and not to man . Mr.Nkwenti Patrick member of the group, lamented on how some clergy members of the church do go about mismanaging the resources of the church to their own selfish objectives. He goes further to say, their mission is not to creat division in the church but rather restore sanity in the house which has been greatly polluted with unholy acts of corruption and favoritism, with fears rift the clergy is pressing for a destabilization by imposing on the electoral college on who to vote for,in leading the church in the next 5 years.
However, Ntumfor barrister Nico Halle the vocal peace crusader, explained that, failed attempts had been made before now for a consensus to be reached in revising the electoral code of the PCC.Thus, meeting with the press in Douala which is an epitome of media outlets in the country,is to draw the attention of the over 2 million presbyterians nation wide to be aware of the untold story about the PCC elections and it’s code of conduct.
Meanwhile, Barrister Ikomi Ngongi on his part said, should the elections be riggered by any form of malpractice, they shall go further to press for a rerun,to enable the church get back it’s rails. The PCC which gained her independence from the Bassel mission in 1957 has been through the thin and thick like never before experiencing managerial crisis in the synod.
For sure,a new leader will emerge after November 18,2024 to either change the narrative or continue the old ways of the predecessor but , whatever be the case, presbyterians aspire to have a leader who could lead them through the justification by grace and through faith and the priesthood of all believers.
