Cameroon on November 17,2023 joins the continent to commemorate the 33rd edition of the African statistics day with theme « Modernizing data ecosystems to accelerate the implementation of the African continental free trade area: The role of official statistics and big data in the economic transformation and sustainable development of Africa » as the continent continues to multiply efforts to ensure the realization of their goal of free economic romance among member states .

While chairing the event last Friday, by the inspector general at littoral governor’s office Simplice Kengne,exhorted participants during the commemorative activity to maximize the occasion to understand clearly the pivotal role the institution is playing in our economy as well as stride made by the government to ensure checks and balances in the country to avoid underdevelopment.

However, during the different presentations, the speakers shed lights on the geometrical increase of economic activities in the littoral region since 2009 till 2016,what meaningful contribution could companies in Cameroon make to enjoy the intercontinental free trade accord since cameroon is among the 8 countries out of 46 that have ratify the accord in the exportation of tea, sugar,glucose,timber and many more other products to the tune of 5255 initially selected to benefit from the scheme.According to the head of the littoral agency for statistics Mme Nara Christel , the innovation this year was the production of a report tittled « The littoral region in figures » which clearly stipulates the economic growth of the region as per division and classified as follows; Moungo – 4973,Nkam – 213, Sanaga-maritime -2213 and wouri -70082 which could equally help aspiring investors to know what division is fertile for investment and could as well help the government in it’s decentralization process in carving out a well structured plan in it’s national development strategy plan.The national statistics agency has equally promised to beef up her communication strategy plan to better edify Cameroonians about their actions,in near future.
